Can the Pursuit of Happiness Kill You?

An interesting development in the world of culture: Tony Hsieh, Zappos CEO and founder of Downtown Project in Las Vegas, resigned as captain of the project a few weeks ago. There have been a number of high-profile suicides associated with the project, but it’s not clear that was the reason. Like a lot of folks interested in company culture, I regularly cite Tony and Zappos as the pinnacle of great management, but this calls into question what happens when the push to be happy overcomes the realities of being human.
